Project Spotlight: harriettyceauthor.com
Time to share another of my recent projects with you! A new website for the hugely successful novelist Harriet Tyce, whose debut Blood Orange (which is absolutely brilliant) was a Richard & Judy pick and a Sunday Times bestseller. I especially love the design Harriet and I came up with as it’s quite moody and dramatic!
Find out more about the project…
The Brief
Harriet is the author of two novels - the bestseller Blood Orange and her soon-to-be-released second book, The Lies You Told. Harriet had set up her own website on Squarespace when she first got her publishing deal, but by her own admission it was very basic and didn’t really do her writing justice.
Harriet wanted a new, more inspiring website to go live before her second book launched, and she also wanted to start building her mailing list so that she could start sending author newsletters.
Design-wise, Harriet wanted something slick and well-turned out, that provided her readers will all the information they might need, being easy-to-navigate. She also wanted something dark and moody, to reflect the theme of her novels!
We took inspiration from her covers in the design of the website and I think the use of the dark ivy background, juxtaposed with the orange gradient to highlight certain sections, creates a really sharp and enticing look. Font-wise we kept things simple, using scale to draw attention to some of Harriet’s many amazing testimonials.

Harriet’s Verdict
The Post-launch Q&A
Before working with Charlotte Duckworth Studio, when it came to my website I felt:
That what I had put together was messy and not presented to its best effect.
What fears or hesitations did you have before deciding to work with Charlotte Duckworth Studio?
Charlotte had come very highly recommended and I had seen other websites on which she had worked so I was excited rather than concerned - I knew it would be worth the investment.
How do you expect your new site to change things for you?
I think it will be a much better showcase for my books and a better website for visitors - I know that the previous version had been rather a disappointment to some readers and this new version is much more slick and professional, which can only be good.
For someone on the fence about working with Charlotte Duckworth Studio, what would you say to them?
It's an investment worth making as the websites that Charlotte produces look really professional and eye-catching, and are easy to navigate.
How do you feel about your completed website?
I'm very happy with it indeed.
Would you recommend Charlotte Duckworth Studio to a friend who also needed to build a site for their creative business?
Yes, definitely. It's been great working with Charlotte and I'm delighted with the end result.
